Casually looking for a condo/townhome to buy as I am coming up on my 2yr anniversary in Phoenix. However the HOA fees seem a little excessive to me. If you don't mind sharing, If you own a condo or townhouse can you tell me how much you are paying monthly including the HOA fees?

in Tempe, I believe the average is around $160 for HOAs. I pay that much per month. I heard that HOAs in Scottsdale are higher and in Mesa they're lower. I guess it depends where you live and what amenities are available.

One thing you can do is just do a search on realtor.com for condos and townhouses for sale. Somewhere in the description, there's usually some indication of the condo fees or HOA fees.

I'd be careful to look over what is actually included in the fees - some that seem high at first blush include water/sewer/trash/insurance/roof maintenance/a/c replacement/cable, etc.. I've seen others that are insanely high & offer nothing..

I have two hoa's one is monthly at $200/mo and the other is $200 for the year - but I have garbage, sewer and water included(with a dishwasher and washer/dryer in my unit) and pools spas and tennis in my community that I don't have to worry about taking care of and use throughout the year.

We have some friends who recently bought a brand new detached condo in Gilbert. They told me they pay $120 a month. Includes several pools, hot tub(s), rec center, and maintenance of condo grounds. Not sure what else is/isn't included beyond those items.

175 monthly on 1 condo which includes water, 165 monthly on another condo water not included. My brother pays much less in hoa fees for his 2 condos in Boston and his rents are more than double the rents I receive

How much does your brother pay in taxes in Boston? NJ I had much higher rent too - but I used to pay $7-8k/year tax - here in AZ <$1k/year in tax -
