Sure, we have to eventually come back to the heat, but to be honest, the heat is one of the reasons we moved here. But escaping for 10 days will be refreshing...plus our air conditioner will appreciate the break.
Yeah, you better see the frozen tundra while it's still frozen!!!! The ice caps are melting quickly.

When I worked, I worked inside, so the summer heat never seemed like much of a problem. The least of my worries.

One thing about the summer in Phoenix: if you car's cooling system isn't working right, you'll find out.

I agree... I think M-F I'll just work and then weekends when I'm really craving the outdoors, I might take a 3-day weekend and go to Flag, or San Diego and be OUTSIDE a ton and then go back to work in miserable, hot Phoenix.

That's why I'm out of here as soon as I get my masters, I have to say, I really like ASU and Arizona right now, but when the summer hits... OH MY GOD is it miserable!!!!
That's what I said - 40 odd years ago, haha.

I run my business from home about 75% of the time, so during the workweek I like to take a lunch break at the pool (sometimes for longer than I should) It's also nice to take a swim in the evening.

I've posted this before, I don't let the Summer slow me down, I am outside and active 12 months a year. Only thing different is the amount of water I consume and whether or not I need sunscreen. My kids are in youth sports and are outside all year as well, and seem to fare even better than me as they never complain about the heat.

I've only been through 2 summers here but I really like them. The heat doesn't stop me from doing much and I work from home in AC. I agree that the pool is your friend. Having sunny skies almost daily is awesome!

It's not hard to acclimate to the summer heat. Just go outside. Start with 15 min the first day. Slowly increase your daily dose of sun.

Doesn't matter what you do. You should probably take it easy the first few weeks. Make sure you have something cold to drink.

The down side is going back to the cold country in winter. Everybody else will be standing around in shirt sleeves and you'll be wearing a jacket and still be COLD!

The best way is to embrace it. Don't think of the heat as something to suffer, but something to enjoy... we enjoy the warmth of a blanket at night, why not the warmth of the summer? Do sunset hikes, float down the Salt River, enjoy a cold beverages, play night volleyball or softball, and do all this stuff never worrying about being too cold. Drink a lot of water and be safe, but seriously take advantage of the summer months. My favorite thing in summer is hiking for sunset. The way up can be brutal, but stops and lots of water make it possible and when you're at the top you should have a nice breeze, slightly cooler temperature than it was at the trailhead, great views, and a really nice warmth coming off the rocks. It should be against the rules to talk about the summer heat in January.

It isn't that far off, is it.

The heat really doesn't rock my world in that I work indoors and go about my business as usual. That isn't to say I don't notice it, though. I don't think of it is bone-warming, I think of it as skin-searing. I find I get a little down at the beginning of summer but it passes and then it's just a matter of business as usual till mid/late October--when it is more business as usual but oh, so happy when that blistering quality is finally gone from the sun.
