I work in the Tampa Bay area but thinking about making a move in the next year as I have family in AZ.

I work in property management presently and do on site management for a condominium association.....and was thinking of staying in that field, depending on the job market.

How is Phoenix in respect to this? Number of posters have made referenence to bad air quality, valley fever....heck, I'm trying to get away from mold!

Thoughts?

The greater Phoenix area has 5M people. It's air quality is that of any city that size in the western USA.

Mold is only a problem if you insist on turning off your a/c during monsoon season. Some people think they're saving money when they run away from the Arizona desert during the hot months - and they shut off their electric while they're gone. BAD IDEA!

Leaving the a/c on during monsoon season here, is like making sure your water pipes don't freeze up north. Yeah, there's mold, but you won't even notice it coming from Florida! The humidity is nothing here, even during our "mold" season, compared to what you live with now.

Valley Fever can be terrible and deadly, but Chickenpox can be too. You're not as likely to get Valley Fever even once in your lifetime, as you are the Chickenpox. If you're an asthmatic, then it could be slightly more risky, but I don't see it stopping asthmatics from living here (including me).

#1 industry in Arizona right now is home/condo/apt building. Someone's got to manage these properties and homeowners associations! Come on down!

I've lived on West coast of FL on a barrier island since 1991...so I know all about leaving the A/C on....I've heard about this "valley fever" from a few of the posts...my bf has asthma but was out in AZ as a child and said he was fine there......
