While not a traditional sit down restaurant I enjoy DeFalco's in Scottsdale

DeFalco's Italian Eatery - Scottsdale, Arizona

For a sitdown restaurant I enjoy Vincitorio's in Tempe.

Vincitorios Restaurant

Nice! I was surprised nobody had said DeFalco's yet, then I got to page 2 and it's the first post! I love everything about that place!

Food is good, service can be spotty on crowded days so try an off day or get there early. Been there a long time. Great change from trendy restaurants.
I've been there once, and was only mildly impressed with the food quality. One place I like even better which is a little further north of there is Roma Garden at 40th Street & Thunderbird. That's also a family owned restaurant, but the food quality is more to my liking ... very authentic Italian cuisine, reasonably priced, and I've never been disappointed in anything about that place.

I used to like another Italian restaurant called Appian Way in Fountain Hills. I haven't been there in a long time, and I heard that it closed down a little while ago anyway. It was another eatery with excellent authentic Italian cuisine, but quite a long drive for me.

Check out Uncle Sal's in Scottsdale. Corner of Hayden and Osborn.
A co-worker of mine who works in another state insists on going there every time she's in town. We make the drive from South Chandler, it's that good.

This place is way out in the boonies...I know because I live way out in the boonies...but if you ever find yourself in Florence (maybe after visiting hours are done) you could try Valentino's. Very good and resonable.

On second thought, maybe you shouldn't try it. They're crowded enough most nights.
