Doesn't seem to prevent people standing/panhandling though so will it really make much of a difference?
They're ticketing people, police walk around with ticket pads and hand them out, I'd be interested to see if a suit is brought about it, there are protests already organizing.

"Protests already organizing," JGMotorsport?

GIMME A BREAK . . . Professional Protesters would protest FREE BEER.

Anything to "enable / promote" a lazy, "you owe me" lifestyle.

I see you tagged me, but I'm not sure what your response has to do with my post?

I'm not sure what they'd define their protest on.....sitting/sleeping long term on a sidewalk should be a right? If that's the argument, one could say those sleeping/sitting on the sidewalk infringe on the rights of others who want to walk down a clear sidewalk and not fear of tripping over people, getting badgered by beggars, etc. Call it the rights of peace and safety. I think the only winners in this type of "rights" game are the lawyers.

You prefer civil disobedience?

pro·test
noun
noun: protest; plural noun: protests
ˈprōˌtest/
1.
a statement or action expressing disapproval of or objection to something.

I stated it earlier, it defines people as a status which is usually frowned on, other laws usually cite to something like access on the sidewalks, I'm not aware if this one does.

Of course not. But protestor's want action/some outcome. The end game isn't the protest and in this case I'm guessing it's protest, grab a lawyer, and attempt to lift the ban. Not necessarily in that order.

Don't forget about the TRUE story of the ' Rich young ruler & begger ....' he's side malkin thirsty right now if you know what I mean.
People, we can't forget that these are our brothers and sisters sitting on these sidewalks.
Is it really that hard to step around ? By the grace of GOD I hope you don't find yourself standing on those off ramps. All it takes is a sudden illness or accident or layoff or anything.....you think you can depend on family and friends, you better think again.
Who will you align yourself with......the rich young ruler or the begger.
Your decision will effect your eternity.

I don't think it will.

Panhandlers are all over northern Tempe and I don't know how a sidewalk-sitting ban will weed out any of the annoying beggars.

The best way to deal with panhandlers is ignore them, say nothing and just walk away.
