It's already in the armpit of the valley. Now it's closer to more people.

That said horrible idea.

Put them in Quebec. They will appreciate having a team more as they proved with the Nordiques.

It's about the distance. I would agree with you if it was located in East Mesa but this is literally in the area where Mesa borders Scottsdale and Tempe. It's actually a great location and very accessible to most people in the Valley. I don't care how nice something is, if it's a 90 minute drive, no thanks. Likewise, I don't care if the building is next to a religious temple or a Babies R Us, as long as it is proximal to me, that's all I care about.

Mesa is a long drive for me, so the distance is an issue. I'd much rather spend my gas driving anywhere else.

I don't see why it is a horrible idea. It's basically where the 202 meets the 101. It's a lot closer for Scottsdale residents versus downtown Tempe. Personally, I would rather have it in downtown Tempe, because it would be a really neat addition to their booming city. However, I think it will be fine here as well.

Looks like Riverview is in fact one of the options being considered.
I was thinking it was going to Tempe but now this option makes more sense and is more realistic. I know Mesa deeply regrets passing up on the Cardinals stadium years ago and now is trying to develop a sports complex (remind you of anyone). So I can see Mesa making overtures to the Coyotes to lure them there.

Exactly, I liked going to see the Coyotes more at America West, it feels like such a chore to go out to Westgate and Jobbing.com/whatever it's called these days

The problem is many people seem to equate Riverview with Westgate and/or a location in far East Mesa as being inconvenient for a large demographic just because it is within Mesa city limits, despite Riverview being far more centrally located than either location or even the reservation that everyone seems to think is a good idea.

Listen up everyone, Mesa covers a very large amount of area, and a Riverview location would not be the same as Westgate or a location in far East Mesa as far as inconvenience goes.

Did anyone bother paying attention to the date of the article? It's almost 30 days old lol

Again, it WILL NOT be built in Mesa. There was a more recent article on NBC 12 (6/25) stating that the site has been "chosen" and rumors suggested it was the old Scottsdale 6 Drive-In Site. Most recently, those rumors pointed the actual location to be further south of the drive-in to be, ASU Karsten Golf Course. Again, numerous sources have confirmed that this will be indeed be the site.
