Just curious. Don't of course tell me exactly where you live, just whether, in your area of Phoenix, or the East Valley, you think its safe enough to open the windows at night to get some fresh air. I don't care about the West valley. I already know the answer to that.
My daughter lived in Scottsdale, left the patio door open one night and had a rapist attack her in her bed. She scared him off, thank God, but since that time, I have been leary of leaving any windows open at nite. I never worried about this in the Chicago suburbs, but I do here.

The way society is today, it's better not to take chances. No place is 100% safe anymore.

Move to Tucson, PhxBarb

I haven't been attacked or molested since moving here in spite of frequently sleeping with the windows open.

To answer the question.........NO! Don't leave windows or doors open unless your window is on the second floor of a 2 story home.

Too cold for those rapist to be out in February in the Chicago area. One good thing about the cold I guess. I don't live there yet but I wouldn't sleep with my windows open though. Just don't like the idea of anyone having access to our home.

I've left the bedroom window open at night, didn't see an issue with it. If someone is already in my backyard and wanting to get in, I don't think an open or closed window is going to stop them.

What about putting security bars on the windows, or maybe those devices that prevent the window from opening beyond a certain point? Then you can open windows to your heart's content.

I want to get an evaporative cooler so will definitely need to open windows.
