Amazing game but it's still unfortunate to see so many damn LA fans there. We need more AZ butts in those seats! But yes...hopefully can clinch that top wildcard seed for a playoff game at home. Nothing beats a playoff atmosphere. This team is playing lights out...just need to improve on RISP.

(cue the "i ain't giving anymore of my tax dollars to the DBacks" rants)

well, looks the like the Brewers might have a new potential suitor for a new spring training home if Gilbert does not pay for a new stadium

Tucson is the Fresno of AZ. College town that has quite a few people, but doesn't have the jobs or amenities to match

Actually the stadium in Tucson is quite nice. The problem is that the travel distance is too far, that's why the three teams that were there (Diamondbacks, Rockies, White Sox) all moved north. When there were three teams they ended up playing each other a lot. With only one team there, either the Brewers or the visitors would have to travel 4 hours on a bus for each game the Brewers played.

Interesting comparison, but I think Tucson is more like the El Paso of Arizona. Both cities really have quite a bit in common. Also, I can't see Tucson or El Paso getting any professional sports teams except perhaps soccer in the future, but they simply don't have enough support for pro baseball or football. Phoenix has a significant fan base for pro sports, but the problem is much of the support is for the opposing teams. Thank all the transplants who moved here and can't let go of the cities/regions where they were so anxious to leave.

As an example, VN... I'm guessing it's extremely difficult for Wisconsin newbies to totally embrace the Cardinals when they have so much deeply ingrained love for their (Go, Pack, Go!) Packers. Etc. Et al. They choose to live here, but are unable to get totally excited about Arizona sports. Yet. If ever. It would be like being traitorous to a life they've always known.
