Some of those places are ridiculous.

The two sites that are probably most likely are either Talking Stick Way / Loop 101 or McKellips / Loop 101 on the Salt River Reservation as the team / tribe could work out a deal without public financing.

I just visited Chase Field in April and thought the place was really nice and this is coming from a Dodger fan. Its definitely much newer than Dodgers Stadium, so I don't understand why the dbacks feel they need a new stadium. Having said that, the place was not even half full and was at least 75% Dodgers fans the day we were there. Maybe they do need to downsize a little.

Whichever the D-Backs choose, that will probably bump the Coyotes to the other. Not sure if either site has enough space for both an MLB stadium and an NHL arena. I like the idea of the McKellips/101 for the Coyotes due the central location for the fanbase in Scottsdale, Chandler, and Gilbert. Is the D-Backs fanbase similarly concentrated in the same areas as the Coyotes?

I can’t imagine the tribe would be able to pay for a billion dollar project. What are there 20000 tribal members? Can you imagine the tax burden?

I doubt the casino can pay for it.

That's BS. We get a lot of Dodgers fans. There might even be a section or two down the 1st base line where the Dodgers fans approach the majority but 75% of the people there, not even close.

If they seriously could afford a new stadium we need to re-examine the compacts.

Right. Even if they cut the seating capacity substantially in a new facility,(which should be done-- pity they can't do at Chase what they did at Coors) it's still going to have to have the retractable roof and all the bells and whistles that MLB thinks is necessary for a "state of the art" (or whatever phraseology they used) facility.

Chase Field is a great venue, and there is absolutely no reason for the DBacks to seek another location. They especially don't need to be moving to somewhere exurban. Look at all the problems with the Westgate location! Don't people realize that if the DBacks move out of Chase Field, it will be a huge blow to downtown development??? Why anybody would want a major sports venue in such a ridiculous location like tribal land is beyond me. Pro sports should be in centralized locations where there is existing infrastructure, and different commuting options besides driving.

I hope the Gilbert ballpark works out but considering past problems with this project I am skeptical
