You might want to check out how much the City is paying to upgrade the arena for NHL hockey team.

That said, I'd love to see Sarver attempt his brand of extortion with Seattle just for the lolz. He'll have as much luck as successfully shaving a bobcat's butt in a phone booth.

Not all that much, at least up front. The developer get a boatload of tax breaks, also concessions, naming rights fee and parking but as far as construction costs for what amounts to gutting Key Arena there's not a huge amount of public cash involved.

Of course the devil in in the details but they're not getting outright hosed like the Suns are attempting to do.

Believe it or not both Vegas and Seattle are smaller markets for all of these sports teams.

This is all noise to try to get public money. Nobody is moving. The Coyotes have been claiming they are leaving for what 6 years now?

Nobody is leaving a 7mm (whole state) market, Especially because in a decade it will be a 8+ million market and in 20 it will be 9+ million and in 30 it will be 10 + million.

Nobody is leaving. its all bull

The Diamondbacks and Suns aren't leaving. The Diamondbacks may end up with an Atlanta Braves like stadium near an Indian casino (either Talking Stick Resort or Wild Horse Pass). However, I can see the Coyotes leave under the right circumstances.

The sad truth is that the NBA and Phoenix may be better off if Sarver moves his team elsewhere and Phoenix gets either an expansion team or a relocation in 5-10 years. The Suns used to have the largest and most engaged fan base in the market but the team has been so awful and mismanaged for years that many people wouldn't be sorry to see them go with the hope of something else. Of course, it won't happen and Phoenix is stuck with Sarver.

Don't be too sure about that just yet. Pro sports teams tend to be unpredictable when it comes to stability. Look at the Rams: they started in Cleveland, then moved to Los Angeles in the early days, and lots of people thought they were in L.A. to stay ... until they bailed out and moved to St. Louis in the 1990s. Same with the Raiders: they started in Oakland and moved to L.A., then moved back to Oakland right about the same time the Rams departed, which caused L.A. to be the largest city without a pro football team for a long time. Many other teams which were established in certain cities have done the same thing, and Phoenix could be next.

Please, please, no more talk about moving anything onto tribal land. There are so many reasons why moving sports & entertainment to a distant location like that is a HORRIBLE idea, which I've already stated numerous times. In any case, the current owner of the Suns is a complete idiot. I long for the days when the Suns had a dream team, and Colangelo was the owner. He was a shrewd businessman who knew how to wheel & deal, and get things done!
