Can anyone advise me to which hospitals or major medical centers are closest to Peoria?? I am a nurse who will be relocating to the Peoria area and need to know where I might start my job hunt.

Wow, I'm suprised the best hospital in the valley wasn't mentioned: Banner Estrella. If you haven't been inside of it, it seriously looks like the Wynn hotel. It has stainless steel, hardwood floors, flat screen televisions, and patients get their own rooms. It's the best hospital in the valley in terms of its ammenities and it's right next to Peoria. It's just 3 miles south of the stadium on Thomas and the 101 freeway.

My husband has done rotations at most of the hospitals in the valley and he REALLY liked Arrowhead.

Banner Estrella is located in Phoenix. Here's a link from their website: Map (http://www.bannerhealth.com/Locations/Arizona/Banner+Estrella+Medical+Center/Map+and+Virtual+Tour/Map.htm - broken link)
The address is 9201 West Thomas Road, Phoenix, AZ. If you plug that into Google Maps, you'll have an idea of where it is in relation to where you'll be living. You can also get driving directions from your home/apartment to it, too.

Also, keep in mind that there are a TON of hospitals here in the valley. You shouldn't have any problem finding a great job. Good luck!

Banner Thunderbird Samaritan is much closer to Peoria than Banner Estrella.

Banner Thunderbird is in Glendale at 51st and Thunderbird. Banner Estrella is at the 101/Thomas junction. It's much easier for one in Peoria to hop on the 101 and then exit off Thomas as opposed to driving through all those lights and side streets to get to Banner Thunderbird. And in regards to the quality of the two hospitals, Thunderbird can't hold a candle to Estrella. Not even close! Estrella is the newest and the most state of the art hospital in the valley. Ask any Banner employee and they will say the same since they own both hospitals. Estrella is just ridiculously nice; waterfalls, private rooms, plasma televisions, and all of the charting is electronic; it's paperless so it's safer for patients since orders are unlikely to get misread or unread. My doctor praised it when I was there because she said that any time she ordered something, it got done right away because of it's system; she said her patients were not so lucky at other hospitals. As a nurse, I'm sure you would prefer reading a computer screen than having to decipher a doctor's handwriting in some chart. Plus, the area around Estrella is much nicer and safer than Thunderbird especially at night.
