Of two things:

The new AZ International Market in Mesa. That place made me drool.
Portillo's Italian Beef in N Scottsdale and Tempe.

I remain envious of Lee Sandiches and their bahn mi.

Phoenix officially has the two best sandwiches in America AND the best ethnic grocery store (imho).

Other than that, I was glad to get home to Raleigh.

Did you try any of the restaurants at the MeKong Plaza on the corner of Main and Dobson, about 1 mile or so North of the International Market?

Yep. UnPhogettable at Mekong. Very good pork bun. The pho smelled and looked delicious.

PS The experience at the Portillo's in N Scottsdale was better than Tempe. The food was identical, but the Tempe staff needs training.

Cool, good to know, I'm not a big hot dog person but I have a relative that is so I'll be sure to run him up to the NS location versus the one in Tempe. Did you hit Teds? Dog lovers I know rave about that place as well.

Portillos serves dogs, and that was their original forte, but skip the dogs and go for an Italian Beef or a Maxwell Street Polish. Dont forget the cheese fries and a chocolate cake shake.

We don't bother with the hot dogs (except maybe at Costco). Portillo's is all about the Iralian beef sandwiches - with the HOT gardenaria (hot pepper mix).
