Surprised this didn't get posted here since it has been on ABC15 etc. already this morning.

New Pinal County Development to Offer Automotive and Motorcycle Racing Entertainment Magnets, Drive Jobs to Region | Business Wire

The principals behind this are not new to Racing or development or even Casa Grande - so maybe it will come to fruition.

Principals – DanRick Builders

Its in the county - and I am not as familiar with their processes as I am the City.

Of course as a "pro" growth person for the most part I am all for this!

I'm a big race fan, but this seems like an ill-conceived project that is destined to fail. Unless they already have several automakers who are prepared to put up big money to use these facilities (which was not mentioned in the article), I do not see this standing on it's own as a motorsports venue... I hope I am wrong.

Hi Dewey,

Well, I am not a big race guy - don't dislike it - just never got into it - but I know you guys who are - really are!

I can only say that if you read the second link I posted - the president on this project was heavily involved in the purchase/expansion of PIR years ago, and they SEEM to have some ties to big name racing research firms and designers. You wouldn't think they would put their name to something if it didn't stand a shot.

These developers also have past ties to Casa Grande, and one of them was a techie got rich (sold the company he go founded for 180 million!) so they have some bonafides.

We ll see.

I work for one of the local membership-based racing organizations. A few of the people I work with know the people in the loop on this project.

Permits are already secured, funding is in place, land purchased, track designers are already hired and a design already drawn out.

If we get a Grand Prix I'll be there in an instant. Casa Grande is actually a good location for an irregular large event. It's not far from 3 airports and is in the middle of 2 large metros.
