"Heat" is different to everyone. Me, I don't mind temps over 100 as long as the humidity is low. I have friends who wilt at about 85 degrees. it also depends if you've taken time to acclimate for the hot season or not. If all you do is go from a/c car to a/c office to a/c car to a/c house, you'll feel the heat a lot more than someone who spends a little time daily outside.

As long as it's in the shade and I'm not exerting myself I can do up to 105-110 with low humidity. After that I don't even bother.

I don't like working outside when it's over 95-100.

It was hot today (around 110) and I was out on the patio tinkering and cooking on my BBQ all day. Tonight after the sun went down we got in the pool to cool down after a hot day.

As long as you're not in the direct sun it isn't all bad.

People don't really stay in. There is no shortage of cars on the roads. They go shopping, go to movies, go to eat at restaurants. I see people having picnics in the parks on weekends. They are always all huddled under a tree. Like others have said, the sun is the killer. Even in 110, with low humidity and shade it is not a big deal. Above 115, maybe things change, but we really don't have that all that often. And even then, that's just a peak temp in the late afternoon. Mornings and after the sun goes down are still decent when its that hot because it is bone dry. So you see people out then. We were all sitting out last night gabbing and having margaritas around the pool. It was about 100 I suppose, but no one even mentioned the heat. Felt nice.

Myself and I saw a few others still had windows down while driving the other day when it was 106 out. I think most people here know how quick you can burn in this kind of heat. Its not really the heat, but more just the sun. Even 120 doesn't feel that bad if you are only going from AC to AC.

I agree with other posters. I would say around 115 people will noticeably modify plans or stay in until the sun goes down to run errands if possible. Regardless, there are still people out and about.

Take note today and tomorrow and observe....

Take this forum with a grain of salt. The responses here usually downplay the heat and make it seem like it's no big deal and everyone is just out kicking back enjoying some wonderful warm summer weather. It isn't true. People stay huddled in AC cooled environments (house, car, store) unless they absolutely have to be outside for some reason. You don't see people out walking around the city, window shopping, hiking, or soaking up the sun like you do in other cities. 100+ degrees is hot and potentially dangerous no matter where you are. It's like winter back east--yes, people still go about their lives, but no one is voluntarily hanging out in 25 degree weather for any significant length of time without a good reason.

I don't let the heat deter me from doing anything. Just be prepared for the weather just as you would when it's cold. Wear a wide brimmed hat, use sunscreen on exposed skin and bring gobs of water.
I have had to work outside in 115 degree temps a few times and I hung a wet towel around my neck. That worked wonders. I was amazed how much more comfortable I was with that wet towel around me. It made the heat tolerable. It was like night and day.

Stay inside? Like don't go out at all? Never. I'd go nuts.
