Only Tolleson and the 3200 block from McKinley Street to Garfield Street in Phoenix. That's it.

It can't be avoided. Even in the west valley. I see my farmer neighbor on his expensive John Deere slowing up traffic towing a load of carrots with that "yeah, I got your veggies right here" look.

Not a stupid post at all.

Easily the answer to your question is NORTH SCOTTSDALE.

I lived in Scottsdale in 1989 -1990. This was before their was a lot of development up north.
Herb Drinkwater was mayor and the pretentiousness / materialism / nasty, confrontational attitude did not exist.

OP please post any questions you have freely here on City Data

There is plenty of that behavior in north Scottsdale, or any other community in the Valley. Even in lower income communities, there will always be different people with different qualities. I know north Scottsdale very well, those traits are alive and well there. Please remember that area is completely different now that it was then. No more Greasewood, Pinnacle Peak or Reata Pass. That old west charm up there is gone.

Default Not what it seems

Seriously, it's not as simple as some people here saying "North Snottsdale". I have been in AZ since 1983. I've lived in North Phoenix, North Scottsdale, Old Towne Scottsdale, Glendale and Ahwatukee.

While there are people that are snooty, it's in every city. The people in Old Towne Scottsdale were just as nice as those in North Scottsdale. If you go anywhere with an attitude, then you will be met with attitude. If you move about your day, smile at people, say hello and are friendly, then you receive that kindness back.

People that say those things usually say it because they have never lived in that area and are simply assuming.

Best of luck to you!

Kindest regards,
Paige

It's interesting how many people love to bash Scottsdale every time this type of thread comes up. There are a number of people who post here who live there, as there are with every area of the Valley.

I guess I find the irony interesting when posters are rude in answering a question in where to avoid rude people, and when posters stereotype hundreds of thousands of people in answering a question about where to avoid shallow or unpleasant people.

In all seriousness, yeah this.

I know its not 100% accurate, but its more accurate than anywhere else in the valley.

Scottsdale is just where all the big money is in the valley. There is a lot of jealousy because of it. Back in the day, the divide was closer, but its always been the richest area of the valley. IMO there are some areas of Scottsdale that have been there for 40+ years and are still nicer than almost all the rest of the valley. There are many people who have moved in over the last few decades because of many reasons; but the big two are health, and cost. Even though its the most expensive area in the valley, its still a lot cheaper, then California, Florida, and almost all of the rest of the coast.

Its got more.... medium fish who chose to move to a smaller bowl to look bigger than the locals would prefer.

As a note, the only reason I emphasized north Scottsdale was because the previous person said it was not present there. I do not think it is more prevalent there than in other parts of the valley. I did not gy any means intend that to sound that way. Like I said, you can find that attitude anywhere, just didnt want an exception made there.
