I pretty have eaten at most of those places on the list. The biggest difference is that there is a few dozen places like that in the Phoenix metro. In Chicago there are a few dozen in each neighborhood.

One time I was flying in to Chicago for a visit. I remember telling my wife that you could find a good Italian Beef on any street corner in Chicago. When we arrived at O'Hare we drove down Mannheim Road and we stopped at a traffic. Sure enough you could look on each corner and see a restaurant that served hot dogs, Italian Sausage and Italian Beef. I pointed it out. "See, I told you so."

Of course we stopped for lunch.

Dazzo's hot dogs still are great, despite the article. Their Italian beef isn't as good as Portillo's but still tasty.

Rosati's doesn't taste anything like thin Chicago pizza. It's just ordinary pizza.

Since I've been gone ('73), I prefer B.J.'s Brewhouse's pizza to Malnati's. It's not so heavy and has a buttery croissant crust.
