Moving to AZ from Houston...looking for rental home in the Luke AFB area (Phoenix: extended stay)

This is my first post since registering on this forum.

I'll be relocating to the Phoenix area very soon and am looking for a rental home near Luke AFB. Here is my situation (and dilemma)...I've recently been offered a position with a company whose corporate office is in Chandler. My first day at the office is November 28th, in which I begin an 8 week training program, followed by 4 months of working from the corporate office; after that, I'll be working as an agent from home. With all of that said, my husband and I are looking to move near Luke AFB because (although he's currently working a full time job here in Houston) he's retired Air Force and would be seeking a part-time position on base (something to keep him busy). I'm willing to make the commute to Chandler for the first 6 months of employment, knowing that I'll be working from home after that. What we're looking for is a 3 or 4 bedroom, single story home with at least 2200 square footage (on a $1600 max monthly budget). We require that amount of space because we have 6 adult children and 7 grand-children who will be visiting quite often, and at separate times throughout the year. I'm posting here because we're seriously running out of time. We'd like to have the move completed by the weekend after Thanksgiving---yikes! We've been on zillow, trulia, rent.com, rentalguide.net, and several sites in order to do research. There is a home in Buckeye that we'll be conducting a "virtual" viewing of (via Skype) this evening, as well as one in Glendale that we'll view this coming Wednesday. I'd like to have more than just the two options just in case. We would have loved to have visited the area and personally view the homes but ran into numerous scheduling conflicts since my husband is currently working, and our real estate agents have booked schedules (+ the upcoming holidays). Can anyone offer some insight into housing communities near Luke which have rentals that would meet our criteria? Is there anyone in this forum that lives near the Air Force base?

One last note---although I was in Phoenix for less than a day, for the one-on-one interview for this job (back on November 1st), and we've traveled through Phoenix numerous times, we've never actually spent much time in the area. I must say, the little that we saw and experienced has impressed us.

I would start at dreaming summit right next to the base and then work down into Goodyear.

I would also seriously consider doing a soft move and loving in an extended stay type place while going through your training. That commute is rough and it works give you more time to find a spot you like to settle in
