One huge consideration for a retiree moving anywhere is the availability of medical resources.

In the Phoenix area, is it easy or difficult to find good care for new retirees on either a Medicare of Medicare Advantage plan?

What are your experiences?

It's my experience that nearly every doctor and facility accepts Medicare around here. Medicare Advantage are usually HMO, so typically you are limited, but they are pretty broad as well.

Top tier facilities like Mayo don't accept Advantage plans. They do, however, accept Medicare Supplement plans. Supplements are also not HMOs. Much more protection IMO. I have no idea about primary care docs in the Phx. area.

Primary care docs will accept you. As long as you have a referral from your PCP, you're fine with an HMO to see a specialist. I do this for a living. We have tons of Medicare patients in the valley who get great medical care.
