There's plenty to do in the area if you're over 30 and don't care about dance clubs, there's lots of sports bars and Alamo Drafthouse just opened in the area and Downtown Chandler and Fashion Center are a mere 5 miles away. I personally love the area, green, water, trees, flowers, great shopping and dining nearby, best schools and youth sports in town, lots of great parks (They kept the Brewers training fields for a city park - Chandler National Baseball) and paths for jogging, never had a scorpion in my house, etc.

It may still be considered overrated, some of the newer areas of Chandler to the East are pretty nice too and much more affordable, but the Ocotillo area has a better location.
Dude...SHHHHH!

I'm already locked into the area with my house, I'm OK with my property values rising with demand.

Yeah. We don't need that. We are doing perfectly fine starting arguments in non-contentious threads!

Yeah we've been here 10 years...no plans to leave either. Just saying we need to quit building this area up on here...with the Intel plant going into full operation, our home values will rise nicely over the next few years without encouraging anyone else.

I personally think no part of the Valley is overrated.
Every area offers something unique and different.
The West Valley has the Cardinals and Westgate. I love that zoo over there with the new roller-coaster.
The East Valley has my favorite casino and some of the most beautiful views you can imagine.
The South Valley has the history and grit which is the backbone of all major metropolitan cores.
The North Valley has a sense of peace and quiet strength. It also has the best waterpark in the country in my opinion.
Absolutely nothing about this Valley is overrated. NOTHING!

Haha - Sorry if it came across like that...I just read these forums and am always in wonder how so many people seem to love these far flung exurbs...Not really wanting to make arguments, we (as a people) need to just learn to disagree while accepting the (alternate) opinions of others. For example - I really like Downtown Phoenix - And I read the comment from the guy who would consider that the most overrated part of the valley - Well guess what: I'm not going to argue with him, I am just going to respect his opinion and accept the reality that we disagree on that topic.

So I'll get off my soapbox and chime in too: In my opinion, Goodyear is the most overrated part of the valley. Just cuz it's so dang far flung and all looks the same. But guess what, if you disagree with me I'm cool with that and I respect your opinion :-) Go ahead everybody drop your opinion...Can't we all just talk smack and still get along ;-) haha peace

Most overrated?

Easy. The latest extension of "Arcadia Lite" that everyone is trying to move to and claim its Arcadia.

I'm taking stuff from Thomas to Indian School, 32nd to 40th St. Just absolutely ridiculous that people are paying $250-$290/sqft to live in the ghetto with horrible schools and homeless people walking your back alley way.
