It's easy to get to if you live in the west Valley, or if your commute consists solely of freeways (during non rush hour times). For those who live in central Phoenix, east Phoenix, Scottsdale, or any of the east Valley cities, it's a pain in the rump. The last time I went to Westgate was nearly 10 years ago, and I've had no reason to go back there. Not only does Westgate have a ridiculous location, but Glendale went in the red over it, and has pushed the cost onto the taxpayers. Revenue from ticket sales hasn't come close to making up for the cost of this boondoggle.

If that's your thesis, then it should go without saying that the million+ people who live on the West side of town don't bother going to a Suns or Diamondback games. Yet the passionate fans will attend. Just as fans from Mesa and Gilbert will be attending a Monday or Thursday night football Cardinals game. Smarter people than us have studied the demographics and traffic flow. If it doesn't sell out or if it isn't profitable, Scottsdale for instance won't be the answer. It's the product on the ice that will make all of the attendance difference.

It was a huge tax break and donated land not an extensively settled and briefed location.

More people live in Central Phoenix/EV... a lot more

The stadiums should be in a central location

Central Phoenix such as Suns is no easier to get to for a large percentage of Valley residents when you account for parking and getting into building.

Don't tell them the Westside isnt just a ghetto for poor people, it's better that the smug stay away. Most of the folks who talk about it have never been to Westgate to see how nice of a spot it is for an evening out.

A much smaller percentage than west gate. Parking? 3/4 of the city lives east of 17. Of the 1/4 that live out west I’d be willing to wager at least 1/2 of them work East of the 17. That’s a lot of people and a lot more people than live by west gate.... The 1/4 remainder isn’t the only population that lives here. The argument borders on asinine. There’s a reason the Coyotes threaten to move every year

Straw man. And a bad one.

It’s a great place for an evening out...if you live by it.

You really believe folks that live in North Phienix or North Scottsdale who can hop on the 101 and be inside GRA easily in under 40 minutes can get to TSA faster? And yes getting into and exiting from the parking area counts. Westgate this is very easy, downtown not so much. And I never mentioned majority so can't really be expected to back that up???

Or, wait for it, if you want to take in a sporting event that you happen to like the sport. I have no reason to visit Old Town, that doesn't make it a bad place or a crappy place.
