Do extended stay places allow cats? If not we're out of luck. I have good news though, I had a phone interview yesterday, and next Friday am going down to their offices to meet with them. Wish me luck!

We had to stay at an extended stay for a night with our dogs when our plumbing stopped working at our apartment complex in May two years ago, and yes, small pets are allowed (our dogs are small, Pug and French Bulldog)

YAY we got the apartment! It is in Mesa off Dobson, apparently not the best area, but hey... when our lease is up we can move.

Studio 6 does. Two pets per room. Some properties are quieter than others.

The cheapest post offices are Osborn, Rio Salado, Arcadia, Northeast, and a few others which are $18 for 3 months. All you need OP is one of these small PO boxes. No need in getting the bigger ones. Just the smallest one is fine.
A tip for future folks - if you want an AZ address before you have somewhere leased, rent a box at a UPS Store, PakMail, PostNet or other mail drop service. The USPS will NOT rent you a PO box unless you either have a mortgage or a lease to show them as proof of residency, along with your ID. Which I discovered today when I called around for pricing. The UPS Store, however, was happy to take either my office or hotel address as long as I had 2 forms of ID. Plus you can get UPS/Fed Ex deliveries at the mail drop places, which you can't do with a USPS box.

I appreciate all of the advice, everyone! We came down for a week to secure employment, and used Lyft everywhere we went, unless we were on the light rail line. We got a lot of advice and tips. We will be sure to use them!

Our apartment is in Mesa, off Dobson & Broadway, about .5 mi from the light rail. I may be commuting to the north part of Tempe (above the river) on an 8-5 schedule. What traffic can I expect?

That is definitely a sketchy neighborhood, there are worse though.

Not too bad, avoid the 101 and go straight down to the 202. Get a bike and take it on the light rail if you are close enough.

BTW there are some impressive and authentic asian restaurants on Dobson and Main, be sure to check them out.

Like someone else said on here, your best bet is a Extended stay motel, to get your foot in the door and land a job. Or you can pay a nice security deposit and a few months rent in advance, Some places will let you do that.

Try "Budget Suites" It's not the nicest place, but it's a roof over your head till you find better.
