I DO use Fry's gas pumps and their rewards points, as there's a station a scant mile from my house, across the street from the Safeway. .
I'm closest to Bashes. Like you, proximity is my go to spot for odds and ends ($40 or less). But any serious shopping will be at Winco, Costco, or Fry's.

I care because I put every transaction I can though my credit cards for perks. It racks up to about 1.5M points a year. That is why I have all kinds of automatic payments coming out of my credit card. If the vendor will allow me to pay without an up charge, I will use my CC. If someone steals my card, I have a two hour project changing all of these numbers and it is a PITA. Also, those cards get exported into Quickbooks. If you freeze your card and don't import those into Quickbooks, you have another couple of hours worth of work manually entering them. Hence, people guard their cards information.
Obviously I check them in case they have been compromised but that's not the main reason as it's mostly for our budget/spending/investing. Making sure automatic payments are being taken out and accounted for. All our accounts are tracked in one online format, so I obviously check to verify the charges are in fact ours while I am budgeting the spending. The more often you check, the less amount of time it takes to check your charges and track spending, so I stay on it regularly.

We charge EVERYTHING as well and have 3 cards we use for a variety of perks. If one is stolen, I have the others to use during that week the new one is being shipped. It's happened 3x in 12 years, so not that much.

I understand the frustration with the automatic payments and having that card canceled, but it doesn't really take that much time to straighten out, especially considering the rarity with which the card is stolen. I have no idea about Quickbooks as I track our spending manually.

And to stay on topic, I still don't care about the gas pumps being used. I care about the gas quality.

Actually, there's a beautiful Basha's store about the same distance from my house as the Safeway. But, it's just enough further, with speed bumps, that I don't go there often unless I am headed for the Starbucks in their parking lot and think of something I need or see their signs out front for sales.

I really wonder why there are so many teenagers and cars at Phoenix's Circle K store? It looked really crowded around a Circle K store. What are they doing there? Is there any special thing at Phoenix Circle K?
Nothing special, they were probably just hanging out like typical teenagers, given the location of the Circle K being in the downtown area, I would say that was a location with "free" parking and no parking restrictions.

There are probably more Circle Ks per-capita in the Phoenix area, than there are with any other chain of convenience stores.
