The Scottsdale store just never seemed to do much business in comparison to Costco. It was always dead (moreso than other Sam's Clubs I've been to). I believe the Scottsdale Costco is one of the most profitable stores in the entire chain and is constantly packed. It also seems to have more unique items than other Costcos (whereas the Sam's was a pretty run of the mill Sam's).

I'm not sure if there are more Sam's closings in the pipeline but I would expect a number of Walmart Supercenters and Neighborhood Market stores to close in the coming years. Walmart wants to prune its store fleet across all divisions.

I don't know what you're talking about, but the one in Chandler is near a fairly developed area. Most of the neighborhoods just south of that store are middle to upper middle class. It's probably the only area of Chandler that continuing to develop as the rest of it gets filled up.
