Try looking for something in "Arrowhead."

Arrowhead is nice and priced right, but that would start putting you in a painful commute to some of the job centers. Even downtown PHX wouldn't be that easy during rush hour. Would be great if you worked up the I17 Corridor.

I agree, Arrowhead and along with the other corner of the 101, Kierland/Scottsdale Quarter area, are terrible areas to commute to or from. These areas are nice for other reasons, but not for a decent commute.

When I moved to Central Glendale, and would drive to Arrowhead, it would take me 20 minutes, not in rush hour time. All surface street, of course, just to get to the mall. Back when I lived in Arrowhead Ranch, my mom had a commute of a little over an hour to get to the Scottsdale Airport. The 101 isn't a fun freeway, in it's northern stretch anyway, to head east. Even to the I-17.

Arrowhead is in Glendale and Peoria which isn't Phoenix. The area near there that does belong to Phoenix is Deer Valley. Deer Valley is nice, not as nice as Arrowhead, but closer to the I-17 which is better for getting to other areas.

If you worked near central or Downtown Glendale I'd try to live closer to Grand Avenue if looking outside of Phoenix or a bit south of Deer Valley if you really wanted Phoenix proper. There you can true get your under 30 minutes commute.

The Arrowhead response is not to the original poster, but for someone who is looking for a 30 minute commute TO Glendale (not sure where in Glendale)
