I have done two re-fi's with Quicken and the process is about as painless as one could ever imagine. If you are tech oriented in that you like to do everything online and never have to speak to a human being after the initial interview, I would recommend them.

We have been Chase customers since the Valley National Bank days. Our last two re-fis were with Chase. They were easily obtained (all online and phone) and were never sold. An added plus was that the loan counted the same as deposits in terms of benefits. The only negative was that they tried to charge a monthly fee for checking once the mortgage was paid off.

"Likely motivation to close the deal..or referral fee."
Close the deal-I am a Realtor and refer lenders that I trust that get the job done--just like you refer plumbers, car mechanics, restaurants, etc. I do not get a kickback. I know the service and product they provide is amongst the best.
Referral fees are illegal from non-licensed entities so did you encounter that once or just assuming that is what happens?

Exactly. Thank you for being honest about that. The Realtors’ priority is to get the deal done, not necessarily to get the buyer the best loan. Local broker types rarely can compete with the large national lenders. Their niche is finding solutions for weaker borrowers or those with complex situations.

Who is a non-licensed entity in the scenario?
