So I'm still on the hunt for a new home and was looking at the Laveen, AZ area.

What do you think about this area in terms of crime?

Also, how are the utilities (like water company) in Laveen?

And is there anything else I should know about Laveen or be concerned about?

Prices look really appealing which is why I'm interested in this area and the neighborhoods seem nice too.

Are you new to the area???? I just recently visited the area to search for a new home and like you had Laveen on my list of options.....As an outsider new to the area my opinion is the neighborhoods in the area look great and well kept but once you leave those neighborhoods its not very appealing to the eye and a lot of the areas that our realtor took us thru to get there where pretty run down looking. I wouldn't say I felt unsafe at all but it doesn't give off that sunny AZ feel while you are in that area after being in some of the other areas we looked at.

Laveen can be a very good option. You would need to check out crime stats with the city to research that. Those that don't live there will usually say it is really bad. Those that do will probably say it is fine with some occasional instances of bad things in certain areas.
Utilities are through the City.
Prices are appealing because of location; meaning land is cheaper. You have to go through some potentially different areas, or manufacturing--not everyone cares for that

Levees is an improving area that sort of stalled for a bit with the recession. It’s actualky very well placed with great proximity to downtown and the airport with plenty of room to build but it’s sort of caught between former rural and former blighted neighborhoods.

The new 202 will help a lot if you are willing to stick it out for several years I think it will be worthwhile

Ok will keep everything you all said in mind and also take a look at all of the crime maps as well. The neighborhoods look really nice so I'm hoping the crime isn't too bad.
