We're going to be headed to the North Valley Harkins which they said is by East Bell/North 34th. I was looking for a few restaurants, but am coming up blank. I can't even find a decent online map to tell me where Bell is positioned in reference to other streets.

I suppose I'd be looking for places in the corridor between, say, there and Lincoln/Scottsdale Roads. I'd be interested in any not-too-expensive suggestions - but not Mexican, not Irish pubs, and nothing rowdy. I found a listing online for "best" restaurants in the vicinity, but in included Dairy Queen, so you can see why I don't put any faith in it.

I'm not sure if you'll categorically dismiss Indian food in the same way as Irish Pubs and Mexican restaurants, but I like Haldi. It's has a nice mix of northern / Punjabi and southern Indian dishes. It's about half a mile away at 2945 East Bell.

Thanks! I like Indian food, although I can usually eat only the mildest kormas. I think my friend would rather drive east than west, but I'll make the suggestion. And they look very affordable.

Thanks for the suggestion - it worked out beautifully! I have to say there is zero ambiance, and the portions aren't generous, but there's an extensive, reasonably priced menu, and the staff was very good-natured. I had the butter chicken, which was great.

Glad to hear it. I agree that it's a bare bones strip mall location, but sometimes that's where the best food is hidden.
