You realize they are illegal in CA, right?

Since when? I thought they were only illegal in VA and DC. However, radar jammers are illegal in CA.

I am pretty sure LIDAR jammers are illegal, last time I checked in CA.
It's quite easy to detect such a jammer for a LIDAR transceiver... so if they have a jamming detection feature, the cop might pull you over and be pretty upset. Reason being, if he understands the tech, is that a LIDAR jammer send out very powerful impulses of collimated (laser) infrared, which can never be good for your retina.

Speeding is also illegal.

Sorry...my mistake...mounting one to your windshield is illegal but the detector itself is not.

Detection is a passive activity... can't make detection illegal really... you are just monitoring frequencies like a radio.
Yes they can make the intent of detection illegal I suppose, as radar detectors intend.
Jamming however is an active process where you transmit/send radiation, and that's where the old FCC comes in and bars you from doing that without express license.

Does the FCC have an agent on every street corner scanning for illegal jammers?

Another reason I'll just fly to L.A. from Houston instead of a road trip. The hassle of a photo ticket passing through is not worth the potential risk!

Last road trip (10 years ago) made me look twice for photo cameras (they were outlawed in Texas in the 1980's right before I was born). I couldn't wait to reach the state line!

There are no photo radars on the freeways in AZ anymore.

Yes ! OK, no. But I could easily imagine that a jamming detector could be built into every LIDAR and radar gun. Super easy to do. But who knows. I don't do it, don't worry about it.
