They do have it early here, since Pride Month is actually June. Having the festival here in June would be a mistake!

I don't think it's supposed to be too hot this weekend for the festival and parade, mid to upper 80s.

Last year I thought the summer was too short. I enjoy the heat (but not the extreme heat), and felt it passed like nothing.

Just stay out of the sun during the afternoons and the rest of the day is not too bad. Plus AC everywhere, so it's quite easy to deal with.

The bonus of the heat is to enjoy staycations at local resorts with off-peak rates, so we get to use the pool / endless rivers / water slides every summer and have a blast.

I think it's more mental than anything, to think it's so hot that it's unbearable. Drink lots of ice water / fluids, stay in the shade, find places to enjoy the pool, and you'll come to love the summer.

FWIW I visit relatives every winter in the mid-west, and let me tell you, I can't wait to leave because going out in the cold, having to deal with scraping ice off the cars, looking at the dreary weather, is far far worse. The roads get super dirty, the cars get super dirty due to the moisture / salt / road grime, and it's no fun to deal with that for several months at a time. No thanks, I'll take the awesome Phoenix summers any day. Not even close.

Seems anything under 95 can be hot, but more tolerable. That's the way I look at it anyway.

No man we have triple digits 100+ for 5 months a year (May, June, July, August and September). Low 100's isn't too bad, but by August and September it is bad because a lot of us are over the heat by then.

Heat does not pile up outside your door, preventing you from leaving your home.

No getting up 2 hours before work to shovel the driveway and sidewalks....you don't miss that?

Yeah, I don't see how it's comparable to the months of frozen roads and not being able to wash your car or clean your garage out for months. I will say, you do feel pretty good after the snow has melted and you give your place a Spring cleaning.

Last year we had 128 days of 100+ = 35% of the year which would calculate to around 4 months
Record 143 in 1989
22 days of 110+
Last 2 years, May had 12 days 100+

The only months that are pretty much definitely 100+ are Jul/Aug and Sept. Even June has some high 90s.

That's what I said. I stand by my point, there ARE 100+ days FIVE months of the year (May, June, July, August and September). That's a fact, PERIOD.

There are a lot of days here that are really hot compared to some places that have less days of snow. That's one annoying this about the summer. Just how long is its. Almost 4-5 months, but at least the other 7 months are very nice. You can't find that type of year round weather outside of parts of California that are now too expensive to live in for a lot of people.

To make it fare, you need to compare a Phoenix summer to a winter in some place like Minneapolis not some place like Denver or Salt Lake neither of which have very harsh winters. That said, I always felt like a Phoenix summer was easier to put up with then a Minneapolis winter. At least in Phoenix you can drive a couple hours up into the mountains for an easy weekend escape whereas in the northern plains you're just kind of screwed.

Heat. Being snowed in for that long sounds super depressing.
