The mixed couple thing is of no concern; no one cares. However, the cat may be a problem. What may carry stigma, especially since you’re making babies is if you’re not married.

As much as some folks would like to believe otherwise it’s still the majority that believes marriage is a sign of commitment, stability, and healthy; especially when there’s children involved. There. I said it.

Best of luck with your move.
So how come the cat may be a problem?

I was asking about diversity in the area. I tried to make that clear with my wording, but it appears most people thought i was asking about racism. Its pretty reassuring to hear that people are not racist. I have been searching things like “best place in phoenix to raise family” as well as “most diverse areas in phoenix” and they never have the same cities listed, so I was trying to get some first hand perspective. Thanks for allowing me to clarify. Hope that helps

Sorry; wrong venue. I thought cat jokes played well with this crowd. My bad.

Interesting that you immediately pulled out the “racist” card.

I didn’t read that into her post at all. That word needs a timeout.

I have a lot of exploring to do!

Most of the time when someone is asking about "diversity" or not fitting in with a "certain demographic", they are looking for somewhere "other than white". Now the funny part of that is if you actually read most of those demographic charts, "Hispanics" usually get lumped into the "Caucasian" category, so they are all woefully skewed for the most part. There are plenty of non-white people living in Scottsdale, but if you just go off of a demographic table, it looks pretty darn white. Some neighborhoods it is, some it isn't. What a lot of people don't get is that the Phoenix Metro is pretty much financially segregated rather than racially.

One of these days, no one is going to care about the color of your skin and concentrate more on the quality of your character.

Agreed. When someone says they want to live in a diverse area, they are basically saying they don't want to live around a bunch of white people. Nice.

Absolutely no one said that.

It's implied.

And I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I get that people want to live by people like them. But we need not tiptoe around the concept.
