Have you thought of getting on one of the utilities auto econo plans. The costs are averaged out over the whole year and are the same in Dec as in July. Plus you'll always know what your bill will be.
We have a 2000 sq ft home and our utility bill runs $142.00 each month. Hasn't varied in years.

you know, I thought that was the case too, but, even though we are on that plan, mine gets adjusted at least once or twice a year; lower from oct-march, and then they jack it up from April through September...I mean, its not a giant adjustment, but still, its not the same 12 months a year...Actually, one year it it went up twice in the warmer weather...

this is with APS..

I find it odd that people in Phoenix are complaining about the heat, especially transplants from other U.S. states. All of you had to have known that Phoenix is murderously hot from mid-May to mid-October before you relocated to the area, since most Americans are aware that Phoenix is the hottest major city in the country.

Also, Phoenix has some of the smoothest, widest, most well-lighted and most well-marked roads of any major city in the entire country, so I am dumbfounded as to why someone would complain about the roads in the Phoenix. Motorists in Arizona seem politer and more sensible than in many other states as well, although speed limits within city limits are higher than in older, more established cities simply because the roadways can better accommodate higher vehicle speeds.

I don't want to do that as I enjoy the lower bills in the winter, honestly. I also did that once years ago with a different utility and at the end of the year I was sent a huge bill to make up the deficit. That may not happen, but it's scared me away from doing that again.

I would seriously have to question how much time you've spent in Phoenix.

Do you mean the "polite and sensible" motorists that ride your arse when I'm going 78 MPH on the 10 within the inside lanes? As in, literally one car behind me? Or the driver that blows by you going 110 MPH weaving in and out of traffic? I'd pay money to be an unmarked police officer in some of those situations. Let's see.... For the 100+MPH speeder.... I'd give them reckless driving, speeding, endanger the life of others, failing to signal.... Of course, I'd have to catch them 1st. Therefore, possibly toss in "fleeing a police officer".
