I was wondering if anyone here has lived in both Phoenix and South Florida. Besides one being dry with temps over 100 and the other being extremely humid with lower temps, which one is easier to live with? I'll be in Phoenix for 4 days at the end of May. I've never been there before but part of my visit has to do with a possible job transfer in 2021. I hear about how bad summer is there. I used to live in south Florida where summer can be hard to take for a lot of people. From the way people talk I'm under the impression Phoenix is worst.

Phoenix is worse, but only for mid June to mid September. There will be some heat in May, but it will be about perfect in the evenings and at the swimming pool.

if you stay out of the sun, especially, between 11am and 4 pm, its not the end of the world..
it will take time to adjust, so don't ezpect a few days to tell the whole story...and yes, at the end of May, the nights are still alot cooler than the daytime, versus in the summer, when it can stay pretty hot even at night..

Hot and dry. Every time. Humid, muggy summers that are only a little cooler absolutely suck.

Hotter and dryer and fewer unpleasant pests like mosquitoes and no see ums. Phoenix summers have higher humidity in July and August, but it doesn't come close to Florida humidity.

Both regions require a scheduled sanctuary of sorts to maintain sanity.

The secret to living in the valley is hopscotching from A/C equipped buildings to car to getting up north or the beach on weekends.

SOFL? Escaping rain and stifling humidity almost every day is much more challenging. The beach doesn't help much.

The biggest difference for me is being able to get in the car and drive 2 hours North and be in 30+ degree cooler weather for quick weekend getaways. Can’t do that from S. FL. I’m not even sure you can fly 2 hours and find that kind of temperature relief.

I hate summer in the south more than summer in Phoenix because I don't handle humidity well. I think for people that handle humidity well, Phoenix is worse on them.

Sounds about right. I can't take the FL summer humidity. It's literally hard to breathe.

I first visited Phoenix in August of 1998 - and absolutely loved the nights there! So much that I almost went to ASU - but out of state tuition made that impossible. It's still on my list of places I would live - North Florida was also on that list. I prefer the dry heat, but most of all I just prefer not to be cold.
