Cold comfort when you're going up against well capitalized multinational corporations with floors of lobbyists and lawyers gaming the system to circumvent your efforts at "personal responsibility".

My ringer is always off. If I see a call coming in I will not answer. No message, no callback. If there is a message it's usually someone from the Cardinals trying to solicit season tickets.

you portray this as a much more serious issue than it is; there are tons of software programs/add ons that help you out with eliminating 98% of these calls, and, depending on your phone brand and carrier, you can eliminate even more..
Its hardly a battle between "multinational corporations" and floors of lobbyists and lawyers and you; its so simple to remedy this situation, if you need help with it, contact your phone carrier or watch some YouTube Videos...easy peasy..

They are working on legislation that will adress the problem. Heard it on NPR about six months ago. But I still get about 3 or 4 spam calls a day.

I wish the candidates in the presidential race would put spam calls on their platform. I'll vote for whoever comes up with a solution to stop the madness!

On my android I use an app called Call Blocker.....it allows you to click on any spam call and block it.basically black listing it....you can all white list numbers.....it works pretty good...after awhile you will know the area code and prefix where most of the spam calls are coming from and you can block them and move on.

This IS a much more serious issue that it is. People are losing millions of dollars to scammers because some of the scams are pretty damn convincing.

Especially senior citizens who grew up in an era of trust with their landlines that cost money to call long distance, and they are too polite to just hang up on scammers.

You have no idea what's being amassed to steal from the citizens of this country.

This video is an eye opener of some of the behind the scenes going on:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ttzmM6U9VX0

Just a single social security scam has cost people tens of millions of dollars, which in turn generates even more scams because it's so profitable.

There is something seriously wrong with the way you seem to casually blow this off.

Don't answer calls coming from numbers you don't recognize. If it's important they will leave a voicemail. Simple. The calls will end if you stop answering them. Also, if the person has an Indian accent I hang up right away unless it's one of my Indian friends, in which case I'll still hang up on them because I'm a curmudgeon.
