Greetings!

I am trying to estimate average cost for utilities for a large 2 story about 3000 sq ft home in north Casa Grande like Villago or Highland Manor with a pool and 2 adults and 3 children living in the home and you can add a dog to that if you like. Mainly concerned about electricity, but would also like to know cost for gas (stove and dryer), water, and any other utilities that apply in CG.

We are looking at houses with and without solar lease so if you live or have lived in a house like this and can share both solar and non solar electricity costs I would be grateful.

I tried to call APS solar and non solar but they did not give me the info I need

Electricity cost without solar?

Electricity cost with solar?

Any input about buying a home with solar is also welcome. Is it the same cost? Cheaper? More expensive?

TIA!

Sorry I did not get to your PM sooner.

We have a 2000 sq ft, 2 story house with a smaller pool (11K gallons - 3ft x 5ft x 3ft deep) that we run the pump 12 hours a day 6 on high and 6 on low speed (probably too much but I like a very clean pool). My wife likes things cooler than me and we have the temp at 73 to 74 in the house most of the time.

We do equalizer billing with APS now and our bill is 220 per month.....but - it is just the 2 of us, and our house is only 2K sq ft versus the 3K you are hoping to find - plus your pool may be bigger.

We are about to do solar this week as a matter of fact and getting an 11KW system. Because of our circumstances (health issues for me) we do not want a long term commitment for solar so we are going to do the Tesla rental program. The 150.00 per month version will likely cover more than we use and sell enough back to APS to cover most if not all of their "fees". They also offer a 200.00 per month version which is 17KW. We had another company come out and size the system they would suggest on a lease program and it would have been 175 per month for 25 years for an 11.5 KW system.

There of course are so many variables - which APS plan do you choose etc. that it difficult to give you an exact answer.

Same with water - depending on how much yard etc. it can vary - but in comparison to electricity it is cheap. Your water bill will likely be less than 50.00 per month. Trash and sewer are handled by the city at 54.00 per month which includes twice a week pick up, free bulk pickup once every 6 weeks, and then free city dump privileges.

Gas is cheap too if you have it.....40.00 a month or less generally.

Gasoline is usually cheaper here than other places (but not always). Right now you can get it for 1.60 per gallon in a few places and much less with grocery points.

I would say 400.00 in summer 160 in winter. If you can get solar that the way to go. Utilities in AZ are rip off. Same cost of living as California if you accept the fact that utilities in California are 50 bucks year round.

Uh not sure where you're referring to, but I have lived in CA my whole life and can guarantee you are not paying $50/month for utilities. I had a small 1300 sq ft house in the Sac area and paid $150-200 month for SMUD. PG&E is even higher. Municipal water is expensive as is trash service.

California average electricity costs run higher than Arizona.

I don't think $50 year round is reasonable for a decent sized house but I had a 3000 sq foot home back in Sac and my SMUD was between 50-60 during the winter and no more than $110 during the summers. My PGE was higher during the winters ($40-50) than it was during the summer ($10-$20) a month. I didn't qualify for any special programs either.

I don't own a house in ARZ but I seriously doubt that the utilities in AZ would be cheaper than I paid back in Sacramento for the same size house.

See the link above your post, the average in California is significantly higher than Arizona. You may have had cheaper utilities at a given location in Cali versus your location in Arizona but that would be the opposite of the norm.

totally depends on how cool you keep it, for how long, how many total electric things running all the time, how many people live there, pool/hot tub, etc...
