Bethany Homes/Bethany Crest is a cooperative development that sides to the Black Canyon highway.
On the crime map--Bethany Homes has an extremely low crime rate.
However on all sides-North and South and West--it is surrounded by very high crime areas.

Is Bethany Homes/Bethany Crest actually that crime free?
If I moved there would I still have to deal with crime all around?
How often do you get robbed while driving in your car or at a traffic light
or in a parking lot, in the surrounding area?

I am considering buying a home there in Bethany Homes.

I get robbed there at least twice a month.

I live in central Phoenix but I cannot speak to that general area that you're inquiring about. However, what people have told me that you want to stay away from anything left of hwy 17 and the avenues.

Phoenix is a rather high crime area, mostly known for property theft. Phoenix is a city that is set up "weird". You will have a block where it looks "new" or "well taken care of", but if you drive over the next street, it looks rough. (Central Phoenix is especially known for that) If you have any other options, I wouldn't stay in that area that you're looking at. If possible, try to look for something on Bethany and 7th ave or heading east from there. Those homes are nice(r).
