Rattlesnake eggs

They probably sell them in gift shops in old town Scottsdale. Technically not food but always a good gag.

What about coffee? Are there any great coffee roasters in the area?

Are there any local distilleries making Tequila or other AZ spirits?

Hot sauces?

Good ideas! Over the past couple years our coffee scene has really matured and we have some awesome local options. Cartel, Provision, La Bohemia, Press, Futuro, Xanadu, Peixoto, Moxie (recently opened but looks like they'll be doing some cool stuff).

For anyone else doing something similar, I thought I'd mention that I discovered that Sweet Basil carries local Goldwater products.

And as long as I'm mentioning Sweet Basil, I discovered that on top of their cookware, their cooking classes, and their inexpensive used cookbook shelf, they're also doing take-out dinners, in case you're doing that instead of dining out during the pandemic.
