I'm assembling a present for my friend. of Arizona items. I'm thinking a small something from Sphinx Dates. And I know I can find Arizona-made honey, jam, and mustard. And I know I can find things in Old Town Scottsdale or at AJ's.

Any other suggestions? No chocolate in this heat.

Don't forget the scorpion encased in plastic, an Arizona classic. Great talking piece at the table.

No box is complete without prickly pear jam. A bolo tie, the official neckware of Arizona, is always welcome as well.

There is a store/plant in Goodyear called Ass-kickin' that makes and sells all kinds of southwestern condiments. They range from the mildly hot to fuego extremo. They have a gift store onsite which is also a nice place for a visit.

I'll take another look, but I tried one of their products for the first time last year and didn't like it at all

Thanks, guys, although I think my friend is too sedate for scorpions or anything too fiery.

Too bad no chocolate. Carolina's chocolates at AJ's are wonderful!

Interesting. Best chips I ever had were the poore brothers hananero from a plant in Goodyear

Unfortunately they mellowed them. Haven't seen them lately.
