I am planning to drive out to Phoenix on Sunday for a couple days to look for a place to live, but I was hoping someone could give me an idea of what my commute would be like if I am working near where the 101 and the I-10 met. Is that Glendale/W. Phoenix area?

If I lived in N. Peoria it looks like 25 miles one way. Is the traffic bad in the morning coming down the 101 and going N. in the late afternoon?

Any help would be great.

What is Glendale like? I'm trying to get my two kids in decent schools. One in HS and one entering 6th grade.

Plan on 2 hours per day in the car. Some days are better than others. If you're working at I-10 & the 101, then the Buckeye or Goodyear areas would be a better drive.

About an hour each way sounds right...

What are your cross streets in N. Peoria?

wow. I don't have cross streets yet because I don't know where I will be living yet.

What about the commute from Glendale? Is that better?

What part of Glendale? Glendale is a really big and long city, so it depends on what part. It's right next to Peoria, so it's probably about the same commute unless you are living in the southern areas. The Northern part of Glendale is the nicest, but then your commute will be the same.

Coming from north Peoria, an hour each way would be true only if your destination was somewhere east or west along interstate 10 since 10 often has stop/go traffic during rush hour. I've never experienced that stretch of the 101 having stop/go traffic, and only sometimes does it get congested as cars are transitioning from south 101 to go east or west on the 10.

I disagree about commuting on 10 from Buckeye or Goodyear because 10 is one of the worst roads for traffic here during rush hour. I would either live north or south of 10 depending upon work location, use the 101 or surface streets, and avoid driving the 10 during rush hour.

I live in Laveen (51st ave and Baseline) and my Fiance works on 91st and Indian school. It takes her 20 to 25 minutes to get to and from work. She drives west on baseline and takes 91st all the way up. I've driven that route a few times and there's not much traffic at all. Laveen has cheap houses to rent also.

The 101 is usually not a problem at all on the west side - at least from Bell down to the 10.
I live in far out Buckeye and it is usually about 35 - 40 minutes on the 10 to the 101 during rush hour time unless there is an accident.

I live in Laveen as well, and it would be fine. Probably take you about 20 min to get to I-10 and 101. There is a new $50 million high school there too. This was there first year being open. Great deals on houses there.

I also lived in Glendale for about 10 years. The area around the stadium is nice (Glendale and 91st Ave). Rovey Park is new homes and very nice. The new high school across from it is good as well. It should only take you about 15 min to get to your desitination from there at the most. You may also want to look at Thunderbird and 83rd Ave (Centennial High School) is a nice area and still very close. Or you may look west around the Palm Valley/Litchfield Park area. I wouldn't go to far north Peoria unless you really don't mind the commute.

The traffic won't be too bad if all you have to go is 101 and I-10. Sometimes though it is better to take the back roads because of all of the commuters that drive much further west or north.

Sorry, forgot to include commute time from north Peoria to the 101/10 interchange. It is approx. 35 minutes.
