oh my lord. no way in H E double hockey sticks would I live where that man does. he was the sheriff when I lived in Arizona 25 years ago and he did nothing to make himself improve in my opinion over the years.

Haha, well it is a big place and not everyone is like him. But I do think it is the sort of place where a "Joe Arpaio" would feel at home. When I first came to Phoenix, FH was new and I so wanted to live there but could not afford it. I'm rather glad it worked out that way looking back. I would have spent thousands on gasoline if nothing else.

I'll backpedal a little as it is really beautiful and I can imagine how nice it would be to walk around the park in the mornings, but that element does exist. On the flipside, there are the artsy, eccentric types, but I would say they are the minority. Sheriff Joe lives in Fountain Hills and the vast majority seemed to love him there.

I thought you people were supposed to be the tolerant ones. Now you won't even live in the same town as someone with differing political views? lol...sounds about right.

Why would anyone live anywhere that they have to “tolerate” the majority of those that live there. Wouldn’t you also be the first to say, if you don’t like it, leave? Not moving there to begin with seems like the sensible thing.

I "tolerate" a lot of you people on this forum, but I still hang around.

So what? What does that have to do with moving somewhere?

It seems that way, but I think it's incorrect.

Since the mid 1960s, more and more people have been moving to areas of the country where eveyone else thinks just as they do. In 1965, there were many more counties in the U.S. that were mixed politically. Now, that is rare. And living around people who think just like you makes people lazy in their thinking and more extreme in their views, regardless of political orientation.

It's actually a very dangerous trend, among many others.

A book was written about the topic in 2007. Things haven't changed for the better since then.

Just saying that it's possible to co-exist with people that have different viewpoints on life. We don't need to silo ourselves - one could argue that is a major part of what is wrong with this country right now.

I absolutely love Fountain Hills. It’s a wonderful place to live. It’s close enough to drive into Scottsdale to do stuff, but it’s mostly safe and secluded out there for hikes and walking around.

It’s my #1 choice to live in the Valley, and I’ll likely be buying there in the next couple of years.
