There is a smallish Holiday Inn Express in Midtown, and a mix of casual and upscale, and good walkability.. and you are on the LR. I'm thinking 140 and up..

I think that you're mistaken. There is a Ramada Inn at 212 W. Osborn that I think was a Holiday Inn Express in the past but it's been at least a couple of years. If the OP is interested in a mid-priced hotel along the light rail there are several options.

Yeah. Been a few years..still would be a good location and about half price of the resorts...could do well without a car there for several days and have an easy airport trip...

Perhaps the JW Marriott in Desert Ridge will impress your son? It has a beautiful lazy river.

What about the Sheraton Wild Horse in Chandler? It looks really nice and is surprisingly affordable.

We stayed at the Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain in Paradise Valley when we vacationed in the area before moving here. It's fantastic.

That is a nice resort, NFL teams often stay there for the Super Bowl. It has a Chandler address but it is not actually in Chandler or Phoenix, it's on the reservation. It is close enough to the freeways which can take you to Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert, etc.

The top rated restaurant in AZ is located at the resort, called Kai (not sure if it's still rated #1 this year). There is other dining there as well which is less formal and the casino hotel nearby has additional restaurants.

Thank you for the info! I was very happy with what I found. The pools look awesome, and even in peak season it's around $250 a night.
