What I'm trying to say is there are homes that have a view, for example, where Shea Blvd dead ends at another part of the Mountain Preserve - west of the 51. There are some hill homes there, not too many of course, but there might be something. The area is called "Shea Heights."

Anyway, the OP is already looking at a home! OP, keep us posted. Curious what area you choose.

Got it, the area you mention is nice.

Since you both plan to work in the Biltmore area. Why not live in the Biltmore area?

So I decided to go with Desert Ridge. It was hard considering I wanted a hill home, but the area ended up winning after giving it another drive today. Moon Valley had too many homeless plus the surrounding areas aren't good. Couple miles south is hatcher, east cave creek, west 19th ave, and north is bell rd. The surrounding areas aren't good at all. Plus, i heard that they would want to build a light rail that would go through cave creek & cactus to pv mall. That's a bad decision.

Therefore, thank you everyone for your thoughts and input.

Thanks for updating us, Rudy. Best of luck and happiness in your new home and area. I have to say though, that light rail going on Cactus to PV Mall will happen when hell freezes over!

I was actually going to diss Moon Valley as a consideration, but I decided not to be negative. Thank you for being honest, because it will help someone else who might read this in the future.

My wife wants to buy a home in the Desert Ridge area. We both work near the biltmore area so distance isn't an issue.

The question I'm asking is which would you prefer? A home on a hill with a view or flat? Moon valley or Desert Ridge? Thank you!
Without a doubt, go with Moon Valley. The neighborhood is established, the houses have character, and the view will help your house retain its value over time. The houses in Desert Ridge are not special, nothing to write home about. If the economy tanks, those cookie cutter houses will be the first to go.

We live out of state now, but hubby and I were both born and raised in Phoenix area. So we know it well.

100% agree with the houses and like MV of it was clean within 1-3 mile radius. Issue is the area and it's a big issue.

The problem is that even though the houses are nice, it's less convenient and the areas you have to drive through to get to it are sketchy compared to Heritage Heights, Shea Heights or Desert Ridge.

I also don't think Desert Ridge will tank. Location, location, location. Stores, restaurants, night clubs, easy access to Scottsdale and all it has to offer. MIM, Mayo, etc.

Not sure what you meant by that comment, but just FYI, Hatcher Rd and Hatcher Dr are two different things.
