Help! I am looking at potentially renting a home in the Phoenix 85029 area. The lease lists the city tax renters fee of 5% to include monthly admin fees for a total of $94.75.When I do a search, the city renters tax fee is 2.3%. I have asked for an actual breakdown, but have yet to receive an answer. Have never rented a home. The one-time admin fee will be paid, but monthly city admin fee? Can anybody answer this question for me? Thanks in advance!!

Property managers commonly charge the owners an admin fee for collecting and paying rent tax. Passing it on to the tennant as an add-on is fishy, but the costs do occur. Ten years ago, my property manager charged me 75 per year to do it. Renter paid the 2.3, and I never would have considered adding the 6.25 onto their rent, but often thought about raising their rent. Not a fraud, but a junk fee....and I would clarify on where they got the 5% number..they shouldn't misrepresent that...by chance is there a moon valley tax that could supplement the phx tax? You really gotta look at the maps closely to determine jurisdiction. Not that familiar with 85029, but as an example people find themselves in Glendale without knowing it, all the time.
