In my case, I don't drive much since I telecommute, but still drive a bit each day and also take lots of little local trips. I probably pay $100-150/month on gasoline with today's higher prices.

For electricity, I'm paying about $250/month during the summer months. I've done lots of improvements to drive the usage down, but the price per hour has gone up, so the bill has stayed about the same.

I kinda wish we had some competition when it comes to power delivery. Both APS and SRP are public companies, so their main constituents are investors for whom they must deliver maximum profit. Customers are about 4th on the totem pole when it comes to who they care about pleasing.
Yeah, that's the nation's biggest nuke power plant just west of us...cranking out huge power. And the demand just keeps going up. For water too...

I wonder who has water rights on the Colorado, is it AZ or CA?

Yeah, my bill was around 350. But I have a pool and 3 kids so it is higher. Plus, mine went up too even though I didn't use as much electricity. They(SRP) said on their mailer that they were going to raise it again. I figure I pay it in the summer here and I will pay it in the winter there. Depends greatly on how new or efficient the house is. Mine needs new windows for sure, I'm cooling the neighborhood. lol

I wonder about the rights to the water too, anyone know?

We're paying about $550 in gas per month and $400 a month in electricity now in the summer...it sucks.

We've done the same to try and drive usage down...laundry and dishwasher after 9pm, screens on all the windows, using the pool pump less...and we are using less electricity the a year ago, but our bill is still slightly higher then a year ago since their rates went up.

We got a notice from Cox cable that their rates are going up. I guess they didn't want to be left out of the party.

To get back on topic. I paid $106 for 18 days, im scared to see July's bill

1100 sq ft apartment. Only a computer, a 10W bulb, and a fan run 16 hrs a day. Most of our expenses were in off peak...

Too bad that won't work with cable. Can you move your fridge over there too?

Each apartment comes with one already!
My microwave door gets stuck and doesn't open sometimes so if I get frustrated, I go use the one in the next door...lol.

Do you have a lot of sunlight coming into the place via the windows? In most places, windows are the #1 source of heat transfer. Even a single room with a lot of glass facing a lot of sun will heat up the whole place and impact your energy use. There are some quick and easy fixes, even if renting.
