The Arizona Republic website has an article on 10 "uniquely Arizona restaurants." I am disappointed because except for Fry Bread House, they are all super expensive restaurants. So list the ones they left out!
I'll start with Monti's - lots of historic flavor and not nearly as expensive as the steakhouses the Republic included.

Barrio Cafe isn't expensive. Mining Camp (never heard of it) doesn't appear to be either.

Here's the article: http://www.azcentral.com/thingstodo/...s-phoenix.html

I would add Greasewood Flat to the list.

I love the mining camp it's off the Apache trail. It has lost some charm due to development but is a fun experience.

yes, Mining Camp deserves to be on the list....but, yeah, a little heavy on the adventurous gourmet stuff that isn't particularly the real "Arizona".....can think of many others that are more "uniquely Arizona", but everybody has an opinion....

There's more if you include places like Mel's Diner, Matta's, or Durant's off of Central. Places like those have been in the Valley bloodline for decades and surely uniquely Arizonian. Tom's 1929 Tavern, heck John McCain has been known to eat there. Local art festivals usually sell indian fry bread too, if you're into that. However the most uniquely Arizonian places you find won't be listed on many of these lists; you have to get out and take that extra mile to find it.

P.S Towns like Jerome, Prescott, Bisbee have tons of them

Stockyards...although that has kind of gone downhill from what I have heard
Los Olivos
The Compass Room - not a differentiated menu but rotating once every hour is kind of fun

The Melting Pot? Sorry but why would you come to AZ and go to a chain restaurant than can be found in Anytown USA? Surprise isn't exactly known for it's entertainment and dining options but I'm sure you can do better than that.
