Not a fan of Culver's at all, their burgers taste really odd, over-done. I would go with In N Out, Five Guys and Smashburger over Culver's.

Five Guys has pretty good fries too, and generous servings. Smashburger has awesome sweet potato fries. The In N Out fries are pretty good too, not very greasy either.

Hard to believe others don't see it that way. Not to mention the menu is vast and well beyond the other's limitations.
IMO, it's another institution destroyed by popularity and California's rules about eliminating trans fats. In-n-Out in L.A. used to be heaven on earth. Now the french fries have no taste whatsoever and, to me, they were the real draw for most people. As for the burgers, the few I've had in the past five years (sometimes I'm with kids who want to go there) weren't worth talking about and there's no use even ordering the fries (wasted calories). Perhaps when a place expands due to fame, there's no more quality control at the individual outlets?

I've been to Culver's twice. I ordered the fish sandwich the first time I was there and it was pretty good for the price, so I got it the second time, too. The person I went with loves the shakes, but I didn't taste them, so I can't testify.

Went to Freddy's in Tucson. Not so hot to me. I'm not into the super-skinny fries and the burger was also nothing to write home about, so I've never been back. If I'm going to ingest something that bad for me, I want it to taste super-great.

Been to Culvers twice, both times the burgers were dry and tasteless. In and Out was not impressive either, just another cheap burger joint. I'd rather pay a little more and enjoy a Red Robin burger.

I've never been to In-N-Out, but I think Culvers is good...but kind of greasy.

Culver's Butter burgers are the best. In-n-Out has best fries. Each is good and better than typical fast food national chain. Culver's is more expensive due to deserts. I like simplicity in In-n Out.

Culver's has surprisingly good fried chicken. Their burgers are unusual, and not my fave. Since I still live in IL and only get an In and Out burger on occasion, I am quite smitten with them! I couldn't vote for one because I would go to each for a different reason.
