My friend is moving from Washington to Arizona to go to ASU in the fall. Does anyone know of a decent apartment complex close to the ASU Tempe campus? He is looking for a studio or 1 bdrm and would like to be able to walk or ride the blue Orbitz bus to school. Nothing fancy, but not too run down either. Thanks.

Try the Maple Ash neighborhood just west of campus. I just moved to this area and love the location! I imagine I'll appreciate it even more once school starts up again and I can walk to class.

There aren't too many complexes in the are. It's mostly just rooms for rent and guest houses in people's back yard. You'd have to walk around the neighborhood looking for "for rent" signs to find much.

There are a few small complexes. I don't know how nice they are. Off the top of my head there's Villa Nicole, Saville Apartments, and the Farmer Street Apartments. Nothing luxurious, but the area is quiet and you won't be paying $800-$1000 in rent just to live in a 1 BR in a loud, party-ridden complex.

If you do look in this area, avoid "Rentals Tempe." I've heard nothing but bad reviews of them.

I'd recommend the area around Hardy/University if price is an issue. If not, he can pick up any apartment guide and find something in the area.

Yeah, I've never actually been in one of them, but Sierra Vista and The Arbors seemed all right.

Oh, and steer clear of Hidden Glen Apartments. I used to live there. Not a good place at all!

I enjoyed living at Rancho Las Palmas Apartments. I tried driving to campus a couple of times, but it was so close that it was easier to just walk to class. They are at http://www.pinnacleholdingsinc.com

Sounds like a "management" review to me.

I you can pick up a copy of the ASU free newspaper, you will find all sorts of homes/ apts for rent and roommates wanted. Perhaps that is the best way to proceed

Have you looked at the Quadrangles? Within walking distance to ASU and from this website, fairly decent rent
