Does anyone know a good value dentist in Phoenix? I'm a Norwegian visiting, so naturally I don't have any health insurance.

The closest thing to budget dentistry is the dental school and Western Dental, a chain. The dental school will offer the best rate as your dental work will be done by students that is supverised.

Another option is a chain called Western Dental. Dentists in private practice will oppose this advice by claiming their work is shoddy. However, dentists in private practice and Western Dental compete with one another so any such comments should be taken with a grain of salt. Unlike dentists who work at Western Dental, dentists in private practice own their practice and thus have incentive to do more extensive work.

If you just want a cleaning and X-rays, I would call several dentist offices. An ethical dentist office will have no qualms telling you the fees for each service over the telephone. You can price shop this way and discover that prices for services vary considerably with each dentist. And by services, I'm including x-rays and other imaging. If a dentist office refuses to provide this information over the telephone, that's a bad sign and I would avoid going there.
