2 days and counting. Still on the fence.
well, you wont be on a fence here in Phoenix, just ugly cement walls.

I've lived in both places, and what you claim as things you will miss about Seattle....will wear on you in the sun. There is no replacement for those things about Seattle that people from Seattle understand...that "thing". Now with that said there are plus sides to Phoenix...to me, not many, but thats my 2 cent opinion. I remember leaving Seattle and driving to Phoenix...SO excited to be living in the sun with palm trees and pools and such. Then after that novelty wore off....uff, you gotta live there. Some people...LOVE Phoenix, I dont get it, but there are people that thinks its paradise....good on them.

Remember you get what you pay for...There are reasons that Phoenix is cheap(er) then Seattle.
And that sun will chase you down...man there is no way to describe it.

Have you been to Phoenix??? 5 years is along time in a place that is not a place you chose, but are chasing a financial situation. If you are looking to buy a house then sell it in 5 years, Im not sure Phoenix would be the best place to do that.

Why not just move to Portland, there is a little more sunshine there, buy a home in Vancouver Washington. Its about the same price as places like Mesa, Gilbert, CHandler, and cheaper than Tempe, Scottsdale. The only good deals down here is Queen Creek, and Maricopa, 2 areas very long dusty desert drives from where you will probably end up finding work.

I agree with this poster. Seattle cannot be replaced by Phoenx, however it can be replaced my Portland.

That sunshine you crave? Becareful what you wish, it might come true. It never seems to give us a break...that unyeilding ball of fire in the sky. Forget about the 110 degree weaterh 3 months a year, the over 102 for at least 4 months and near 100 degrees even here in October, even at 80 degrees, I start missing the cool cloudy days of Fall.

DOH!!!!!! Lived in Colorado for 20 years. Washington State for 4 years. And Phoenix now for 15.

Get a clue here people. Weather dominates our lives. I mean dominates. It largely controls what you can do on the weekend and what you cannot. Phoenix is sunny...perpetually sunny, like no place on earth. You can plan your weekend well in advance and you don't need some stupid "unless it rains or snows" clause. Denver and Seattle have miserable weather.

The Arizona lakes are beautiful. And Flagstaff and the Mogollon Rim are less than 2 hours away from Phoenix and rival any mountains that Colorado or Washington state have to offer.

Phoenix has the best of all worlds. Love it or leave it.

That statement is simply not true...I see many great deals all throughout the Valley. If you need help finding a great home at a great price I'd love to help.

What?? Seattle, maybe. But Denver? Are you serious? Denver's climate is not really all that much different than Flagstaff's, maybe a tad more windy. But lots of sun, and the altitude and dry air makes the cold seem much more tolerable in the winter, to me at least. Trust me when I tell you that you could do far worse than Denver when it comes to weather. Try living in the midwest or on the east coast- that's miserable.

Uh, no, not in my opinion it doesn't. Albuquerque, Salt Lake City, and Reno would all come to mind as fitting that description better than Phoenix. All of the above offer a quality of "city life", with numerous diverse outdoor attractions within hours or less. And in those places, at least you're not confined to an air conditioned cave for half the year. Does Phoenix have some good things? Sure. But there are many nicer cities and places with better overall climates in this part of the country, absolutely.

Its been over 100 degrees since late may, and its 98 degrees right now, it will be around 100 every day unitl Halloween. I would more accurately say that its hell on earth for about 5 months a year, and tollerable for 1 after than, and good for the next six.

This place isnt Remotely like anthing in the beautiful pacific northwest and its year round mild weather.

They have these bushes here, and trim down the lower branches, and you see stakes and they try to make them grow like trees.

Someone mentioned Ponderosa forests. Not here in Phoenix. Not even close.
I wondered why this town was built here. No waterways, maybe the Gila River.

The water sucks here, is the hardest water. I thought we had hard water in the Midwest, but that stuff is silky compared to this.

Yeah what's up with those? Is it because they build the homes 2 feet apart from each other? You could pass a cup of sugar between the homes.
Everyone is so walled in.
I thought maybe to keep the animals out. But what animals?
I thought maybe because of swimming pools, but not everyone has one.

It has a prison feeling.
