Yeah, people just keep telling you, that when you live in Phoenix, you're just hours from this or that spectacular thing.
You could say that about any place. Almost anywhere is hours from something.
The problem is, it takes money and time to get there. Heck, I could hop on a plane, when I lived in Cleveland and be in NYC in a few hours.
So, I might be hours from places, but with work, you just cant take every weekend and go somewhere, plus the money. But then I forgot, most here are rolling in money.

Get a clue here people. Weather dominates our lives. I mean dominates. It largely controls what you can do on the weekend and what you cannot. Phoenix is sunny...perpetually sunny, like no place on earth. You can plan your weekend well in advance and you don't need some stupid "unless it rains or snows" clause. Denver and Seattle have miserable weather.

The Arizona lakes are beautiful. And Flagstaff and the Mogollon Rim are less than 2 hours away from Phoenix and rival any mountains that Colorado or Washington state have to offer.

Phoenix has the best of all worlds. Love it or leave it.
When I lived in Cleveland, I was 15 minutes from Lake Erie. Cleveland is surrounded by the Metro Parks system. So, I lived and could access all of that without having to plan a day trip or spend a lot of money going somewhere and having to get back before nightfall.

2 days and counting. Still on the fence.

You can go to the Midwest, upstate NY, the Carolinas, Virginia, and Maine, if you like forests. Lots of green and lots of water.

I am going back when I can. I don't want to turn into a prune here.
All that humidity back east is good for your skin.

Someone mentioned Ponderosa forests. Not here in Phoenix. Not even close.
I wondered why this town was built here. No waterways, maybe the Gila River.

The water sucks here, is the hardest water. I thought we had hard water in the Midwest, but that stuff is silky compared to this.
most aweful water I have ever tasted. Pac NW had the absolute best water.

Everyone is so walled in.
I thought maybe to keep the animals out. But what animals?
I thought maybe because of swimming pools, but not everyone has one.

It has a prison feeling.
Don't know, all these neigborhods are walled up, like you say in a prison look. they all have dirt backyards.

I came here because of a Job promotion, Im not sure why anybody else comes here. It does motivate me in my job to try and get promoted again. I will be headed for either NoCal, OR, WA, or even beautiful Vermont.

This place isnt Remotely like anthing in the beautiful pacific northwest and its year round mild weather.

I have vacationed in Seattle and you are right, it is gorgeous. We were there for a week on a golf vacation and it only rained two times and not very heavily. People said we were lucky to have been there during a dry spell but I would go visit again. I had a great time.

What part of the Valley do you live in? I can help you find some of those things close to your home and you won't have to plan a day trip or take a hit to your wallet.
