Tough call.............if discussing the newer areas with their ticky-tacky stucco houses---------aside from the decent winters, there is nothing there IMHO.

The older enclaves like E Indian School Rd, etc. I would say the straight/wide boulevards, gorgeous sunsets, palm trees, etc.

Things I would miss:
* The right to work atmosphere (little influence from corrupt labor unions in the workforce)
* The freeway system
* Watching the progress materialize in terms of transportation & urban development

Things I wouldn't miss:
* Photo radar
* NIMBYs
* The constant sun & heat with little relief
* The bozos who think of temperatures in the upper 90s this time of year as "beautiful autumn weather"

I'd miss the friends I've made...and that's all I'd miss. To be fair though, I didn't come to AZ by choice (short-term life circumstances that has become a bit longer than I'd hoped).

What will I take as a reminder? A copy of the HOA's thick CC&Rs book...in case I ever need a reminder of how great freedom is!

The "live and let live" attitude out here I would miss most.

I would miss a lot more than one thing but if I had to pick one thing, it would have to be.....

Our gorgeous winter weather.

I would have to take with me a picture of one of our beautiful Arizona sunsets.

I wouldn't miss anything.
It took me 35 years to hate CA, it took me 1 year to hate AZ!

I would miss everything, the beautiful blue sky, the wildlife, like the coyote that comes everyday to eat the grasshoppers, LOL, the sounds of the wind rustling in the branches of my palm tree, the sunsets so red that they take my breath away, the site of hot air balloons suspended above the mountain tops, the fact that I can eat outside in a garden in Feb. aided just with the help of a firepit, the looks of all the shopping centers with fountains and flowers everywhere, that when I go into my Safeway, they say Hi to both me and my hubby using our first name! These are things that NEVER, NEVER happen in NY! The only time I ever felt a sense of commradity in NYC was when 9/11 hit and everyone walked around stunned and then and only then, did people pass you with a nod or a semi-smile on their face. But that didn't last long. At least here, my neighbors notice when I am gone and when I return and will wave and say "hi, glad to see you are back!"

The convenience of it all. EVERYTHING you could ever want to spend money on is just up the street or around the corner.

What would I miss about Phoenix?? Guess I cant think of anything. Gee whiz.
Im girl who loves a real winter, and a comfortable summer (under a million degrees). Snow country, cool brisk weather. Love it. It snows out here but not as frequently as other places Ive been to.
I lived out there in Az for 12 years (2 in Flagstaff, 2 in the Phx metro area and 8 in Casa Grande) and finally came home, back to Calif. Its okay to visit, but wont be moving back anytime in this lifetime. Leave it for the desert dwellers.
